ByteDance plans to cut around 450 jobs at its Indonesian e-commerce business following the merger of TikTok Shop and local rival Tokopedia in January. The job cuts, which will affect about 9% of the Indonesian e-commerce team, are aimed at eliminating duplicate functions and reducing costs amid intense competition with rivals such as Shopee and Lazada. ByteDance's Indonesian e-commerce business currently employs around 5,000 people.
