A US woman, Cherish, was swindled by a Jaipur-based shopkeeper, Gaurav Soni, who sold her fake gold-polished jewelry worth ₹300 for ₹6 crore. The scam was uncovered when Cherish showcased the jewelry at an exhibition in the US in April. Gaurav and his father Rajendra Soni are on the run, while Nand Kishore, who issued a fake certificate of authenticity, has been arrested. The Jaipur Police are investigating the case.
