US multinational software firm Digital River Ireland Ltd. ordered to pay nearly €170,000 in unfair dismissal to a senior Irish executive. The company's US-based in-house lawyer admitted to not checking Irish employment law before dismissing the sales director's redundancy appeal. Kevin Foley, former senior director of sales, claimed the decision was made in a "sham" process involving his US-based line manager.
