Police launched a homicide investigation in Waikanae Beach, north of Wellington, after a man died from serious injuries following an altercation. Emergency services were alerted around 4:20pm, and the man received medical attention at the scene. Another man, known to the victim, is assisting police with their inquiries. Cordons have been put in place for a scene examination, and police do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the public.
