142 employees at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) face layoffs as part of the university's annual renewal process, with plans to cut more than 500 staff members in the next 90 days. The layoffs follow a $1bn merger agreement with Legacy Health, expected to lead to the largest nurses strike in Oregon history. 1,400 OHSU research workers have also filed for union representation amidst the ongoing layoffs.
