Nigeria begins diesel-to-CNG conversion for railway engines, targeting Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor.

Nigeria's Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, announced the federal government has begun converting railway locomotive engines from diesel to compressed natural gas (CNG). The process, currently at an advanced stage, involves engines working on 70% diesel and 30% gas. Nigeria is the first African country to undertake diesel-to-gas conversion. The government aims to reduce maintenance costs and carbon emissions, with the initial focus on the Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor.
