Louisiana warned of soaring toxic gas levels of ethylene oxide, a carcinogen that can "directly damage DNA." A recent study using advanced mobile air-testing labs found dangerous levels of the gas, thousands of times higher than safe limits, in parts of Louisiana. Elevated levels were discovered as far as 6 miles downwind from industrial plants, posing a "worrisome" risk to residents and workers, particularly children.
