Bangladesh has appointed Lt Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman as its new Army chief for a three-year term starting June 23, also promoting him to a four-star general. Zaman, an Infantry Corps officer, currently serves as the Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Bangladesh Army. His previous roles include leading key command, staff, and instructional roles within the Bangladesh Army and the United Nations Peacekeeping Affairs.
