Two First Nations, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and Garden River, have challenged lawyers responsible for a $10-billion Robinson Huron Treaty Litigation Fund, seeking $510 million in legal fees. The First Nations claim the lawyers have already received millions in legal fees and are challenging the fairness and reasonableness of the $510 million bill. The Robinson Huron settlement aimed to remedy unpaid treaty annuities for 21 First Nations.
