Off-duty police sergeant Michael Durieux killed Christian Chestnut in a targeted murder-suicide in DeKalb County.

A murder-suicide in DeKalb County involved police sergeant Michael Durieux, 38, a reserve sergeant with the Fort Valley Police Department. The victim was identified as 37-year-old Christian Chestnut. Durieux was off-duty when the incident occurred, and he drove away before crashing his car and dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Chestnut was targeted by Durieux, but a motive has not yet been determined.
