President Ruto has signed the Division of Revenue Bill 2024 into law, allocating a record Sh400.1 billion to Kenya's 47 counties, an increase of Sh14.6 billion from the previous financial year. The National Government will receive Sh2.5 trillion for public service expenditures. The Equalization Fund, aimed at improving basic services in marginalized areas, will receive an allocation of Sh7.8 billion. The overall budget has been reduced by 3.3% (Sh132.46 billion) from Sh3.981 trillion to Sh3.848 trillion.
