JSW Steel reports a 4% decline in May 2024 crude steel production due to a blast furnace shutdown.

JSW Steel reported a 4% decline in crude steel production for May 2024 at 20.98 lakh tonnes due to a planned maintenance shutdown of one of its blast furnaces. The furnace resumed operations in June, maintaining an 86% capacity utilization rate for its India operations. JSW Steel aims to increase its total capacity to 38.5 million tonnes by 2024-25 and has introduced an indigenous product, Magsure, a Zinc-Magnesium-Aluminium alloy coated steel, to reduce India's reliance on coated steel imports.
