4 Indigenous Colombian children survive 40 days in Amazon rainforest after plane crash; custody battle ensues.

Colombia celebrated the first anniversary of the rescue of four Indigenous children who survived a plane crash in the Amazon rainforest. The Huitoto siblings, aged 13, 9, 4, and 11 months, were found after 40 days fending for themselves. The children, under state care, await a custody decision after a battle between maternal grandparents and deceased mother's partner, Manuel Ranoque, who is the biological father of two of the siblings.
