Actor-turned-BJP leader Suresh Gopi, who won a landmark victory in Thrissur to give his party its first-ever Lok Sabha seat from Kerala, has been sworn in as a Union Minister in the 3rd Prime Minister Narendra Modi government. With over 250 films under his belt in a career spanning the mid-1980s, Gopi was previously close to Congress Chief Minister K. Karunakaran and had been considered as a Congress candidate in the past. Despite failing to secure a seat in the past, Gopi's recent appointment marks a significant milestone for the BJP in Kerala.
