1st fixed speed camera in Far North's SH1 goes live, aiming to improve safety after 5 fatalities and 6 serious injuries in 2018-2023.
The Far North's first fixed speed camera has gone live on SH1 between Kawakawa and Moerewa, a year after installation. The NZ Transport Agency (Waka Kotahi) stated that from June 17, speeders on this road section can expect to receive a notice from NZTA. The camera aims to improve safety on this high-risk stretch, which saw five fatalities and six serious injuries in crashes between 2018 and 2023.
