CEO compensation in the US increased by 13% in 2023, surpassing wage growth for average workers, further widening the pay gap. Median pay packages for CEOs reached $16.3m, a 12.6% rise, while private-sector worker wages and benefits grew by 4.1%. In half of the companies surveyed, a middle-tier worker would need 200 years to earn their CEO's annual salary. The growing income disparity may fuel dissatisfaction among Americans over the economy.
