Aunty Beth Wright receives a Public Service Medal for preserving and revitalizing Indigenous languages.
Aunty Beth Wright, a Gamilraay, Yuwaalaraay, and Wayilwan woman who teaches seven Indigenous languages at TAFE NSW, has been awarded a Public Service Medal. Known for preserving Indigenous languages, she was told not to speak her language outside her home as a child. This King's Birthday honour acknowledges her for sharing her language worldwide and revitalizing another lost language.
