Connecticut's DMV criticized for writing off $7.6m in late fees for uncollected emission tests.

Connecticut's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) was criticized in a state audit for writing off $7.6 million in late fees for motorists who failed to get emission tests. The DMV removed 379,882 uncollected accounts, leading to uncollected $20 late fees. The audit, covering fiscal years 2019 and 2020, also noted that the DMV failed to track hours worked by contractors, potentially leading to lost revenue.
