Council worker Michael Paterson, 59, has admitted to embezzling over £1m from Aberdeen City Council over a 17-year period. Paterson, a council tax recovery manager, diverted significant funds into his account, unsupervised, to spend on Apple goods, holidays, and restaurant visits. The High Court in Edinburgh is considering a considerable custodial sentence for Paterson, who continued to take money even after starting to pay off debts.
