OAS grants Kenya permanent observer status on June 5, 2024, allowing participation in Western Hemisphere affairs.

The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) granted Kenya permanent observer status on June 5, 2024. This allows Kenya to partake in political discussions, policy analysis, and decision-making in Western Hemisphere affairs. The decision followed a recommendation from the OAS General Secretariat's Department of External and Institutional Relations. Kenya becomes the 71st country to hold this status within the 35-member OAS.
