Mercury expands Kaiwera Downs wind farm in New Zealand, investing $486m after securing a deal with NZ Aluminium Smelters. The 155MW project's capacity will increase to 198MW, becoming the 2nd largest in NZ, generating enough electricity for 73,000 homes annually. Construction starts this month, with full generation expected by end-2026, pending approval for other NZAS supply contracts with Meridian Energy and Contact Energy.
