5G technology has driven a direct economic output of approximately 5.6 trillion yuan (~$858.5 billion) in China over the past five years, with an additional indirect economic output of 14 trillion yuan, according to Zhao Zhiguo, chief engineer of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The country has installed over 3.7 million 5G base stations and achieved global leadership in 5G network infrastructure, key core technologies, and digital-physical integration since the issuance of 5G commercial licenses in 2019.
