Former Gyeonggi Province Vice Governor Lee Hwa-young has been sentenced to 9.5 years in prison for colluding in an underwear maker's unauthorized $8M remittance to North Korea, bribery, and political fund law violations. Prosecutors claim $5M was for Gyeonggi's smart farm support program, and the rest for then-Governor Lee Jae-myung's planned visit. Lee Jae-myung could face further investigation if found guilty.
