Former Cameroonian Prime Minister Philemon Yang was elected as the president of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. Yang, who has previously served as the Chairperson of the Panel of Eminent Africans of the African Union, emphasized the importance of unity, peace, sustainable development, and human dignity. The UNGA session will open on September 10 at the UN headquarters in New York.
