99-year-old D-Day veteran Joseph Vogelgesang, from Abbotsford, BC, receives France's highest honor, Knight of the Legion of Honour, in a Vancouver ceremony.

99-year-old D-Day veteran from Abbotsford, BC, Joseph Vogelgesang, will be presented with France's highest honour in a ceremony in Vancouver on June 6th. Vogelgesang, who went to France with 14,000 other Canadians during WW2, will be recognised as a Knight of the Legion of Honour for his contribution and bravery in the liberation of France. Consul General Nicolas Baudouin states that the medal signifies "profound gratitude" for Vogelgesang's service, including his vital role on D-Day when he was 19 years old.
