Seniors advocate in British Columbia reports seniors feeling "invisible and forgotten," with affordability, poverty, and risk of homelessness top concerns.

BC's seniors advocate reports that seniors in British Columbia feel "invisible and forgotten" as they fall through the cracks in the province's existing support systems. In his first report, Dan Levitt reveals that affordability is the top concern for seniors, with one in four earning less than $23,000 a year, below the poverty line. Many seniors are unable to absorb increased costs for housing, food, medical equipment, and other necessities for healthy aging. The seniors advocate calls for a redesign of the Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters program and suggests that more low-income seniors are at risk of homelessness.
