A recent report from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) revealed that the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse in Mumbai, which killed 17 people, was due to a weak foundation and insufficient wind resistance. The billboard was installed without proper foundation support and could only withstand wind speeds of 49 kmph. The incident resulted from deliberate negligence on the part of those involved and led to the arrest of the advertising firm director, structural engineer, and a former director of the firm.
