The First Nations University of Canada is establishing a new institute, funded by Mastercard ($6M over 5 years) and McConnell Foundation ($1.5M over 5 years), to track Indigenous economic prosperity in Canada. The institute aims to collect data on population, businesses, land, and resources to help Indigenous communities manage and track their own progress, as recommended by the 2022 National Indigenous Economic Strategy.
