Federal High Court in Lagos orders interim forfeiture of N11.14bn properties linked to former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele.
The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted an interim order of forfeiture for properties valued at N11.14bn linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele. The court ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to publish the interim order in a newspaper, allowing interested parties to contest the final forfeiture. The case alleges that Emefiele purchased prime properties through proxies using proceeds from fraud, and that his accomplices used their positions to secure foreign exchange allocations for various companies in return for kickbacks. The hearing for the motion for final forfeiture was adjourned to June 21.
