Dolby Labs acquires GE Licensing in a $429M cash deal for 5,000+ patents, closing by FY2024.
Dolby Labs has agreed to acquire GE Licensing, an intellectual property business, in a $429 million cash deal. The acquisition, expected to close by fiscal year 2024, comprises over 5,000 GE patents, excluding aerospace and defense IPs and the GE brand's trademark portfolio. Dolby expects the deal to be accretive on an adjusted basis to operating margins and profit per share in fiscal year 2025.
