CID urges New Zealand to increase Official Development Assistance (ODA) to 0.5% in 2024 and aim for 0.7% by 2026.

The Council for International Development (CID) has analyzed the 2024 New Zealand Budget, urging increased Official Development Assistance (ODA) to tackle global challenges and meet humanitarian aid obligations. While ODA reached a record $1.4bn (0.34% of GNI) in 2023, it remains below the UN target of 0.7%. CID calls for NZ to increase ODA to 0.5% in 2024 and develop a strategy to reach 0.7% by 2026 amid ongoing global crises.
