Canada's merchandise trade deficit narrowed to C$1.05 billion in April, smaller than the C$1.4 billion forecast, as energy and gold exports contributed to stronger export growth than import growth. Total exports increased 2.6% and imports rose 1.1%. The increase in exports was driven by energy products and unwrought gold, while import growth was led by cars, ships, and unwrought gold.
