The ACLU of Wisconsin filed a lawsuit alleging Milwaukee's RNC plans violate the First Amendment due to limiting protest locations.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Wisconsin has filed a lawsuit against the City of Milwaukee, alleging that the city's plans for the Republican National Convention (RNC) violate the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The lawsuit claims that Milwaukee's ordinances governing parade and protest activity limit the locations where protesters can parade and exercise their right to free speech during the RNC. The city has not released the designation of demonstration areas or the parade route for the July 15-18 event. The ACLU aims to ask the court to order the city to use a march route proposed by the Coalition to March on the RNC.
