The UK new car market marked its 22nd consecutive month of growth in May, with registrations rising 1.7% year-on-year to reach 147,678 units. Fleets and businesses continued to drive sales, with a 14% increase in fleet registrations and a 9.5% increase in business registrations. This growth offset a 12.9% decline in private registrations. Demand for electrified vehicles, such as plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles, also rose, with registrations of BEVs increasing by 6.2% to a 17.6% market share.
