Ster-Kinekor, South Africa's largest cinema exhibitor, has halted plans to close nine cinemas and retrench over 220 employees. After successful restructuring negotiations with landlords and distributors, the company has now only closed two cinemas and reduced job cuts to less than 60, mainly at its head office. Ster-Kinekor plans to broaden its product offerings to attract new audiences.
