8 people died in Morocco after consuming bootleg alcohol laced with methanol in Sidi Allal Tazi, north of Rabat. 81 others are under medical supervision. Methanol can be used as a substitute for ethyl alcohol in adulterated drinks like "Eau de vie" and is toxic, causing brain tissue damage, blindness, and death if left untreated. The health ministry is investigating the incident.
