Maruti Suzuki India has commenced a pilot biogas plant at its Manesar facility, with plans to invest INR 450 crore in renewable energy initiatives over the next three years. The initiative is aligned with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's 'Waste to Energy' program and aims to ramp up production capacity from 2 million to 4 million units by 2030-31. The pilot plant, which utilizes in-house food waste and Napier grass, is designed to produce 0.2 tonnes of biogas daily, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 190 tonnes annually.
