Omar Haouchar, who was paroled in 2020, joined a brawl at the Lithgow Correctional Centre in June 2021 but was not charged for the initial altercations. Despite his criminal history, the judge was impressed by Haouchar's rehabilitation journey and sentenced him to a three-year community corrections order, instead of returning him to jail. The brawl resulted in one inmate being stabbed and two others sustaining head injuries.
