India's civil aviation ministry plans to expand air connectivity by developing more airstrips and adjusting regulations.
India's civil aviation ministry is planning to expand air connectivity by developing more airstrips and adjusting regulations for major and smaller airports. As one of the fastest-growing civil aviation markets globally, domestic air traffic has increased and airlines have expanded their fleets and operations. In the last decade, the number of operational airports has risen to 157 from 74, and the ministry aims to transform more airstrips into brownfield projects. Efforts are also underway to jointly develop defense airfields for civil aircraft operations.
