Devon Energy Corp. appointed John Bethancourt as independent chair of its board, effective July 1. Bethancourt, who joined Devon's board in 2014, succeeds Barbara Baumann, who will remain on the board and join the compensation and governance, environmental, and public policy committees. Bethancourt has 30+ years of experience in the energy industry, including executive roles at Chevron.
