Over Memorial Day weekend, New York State police arrested 225 people for DWI and issued nearly 11,000 tickets for various driving offenses, including speeding and distracted driving. Governor Kathy Hochul's office revealed the increased enforcement and sobriety checkpoints were aimed at addressing drunk and distracted driving. Although no fatal crashes were reported, state police investigated 239 crashes, including 58 personal injury incidents.
