The University of Manitoba has publicly apologized for harm caused to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities by accepting and storing Indigenous remains without consent since the 1890s. President Michael Benarroch acknowledged the university's wrong relationship with Indigenous peoples and pledged to work on healing. The university has been repatriating remains for four years.
