South Korea plans to invest 2.5 trillion won ($1.8 billion) by 2034 in next-gen nuclear reactor tech, focusing on safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The Ministry of Science and ICT aims to foster private firms, secure key tech for small modular reactors, and enter the global SMR market in the 2030s. Seoul also plans to develop fourth-gen reactors, including sodium-cooled fast reactors, high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, and molten-salt reactors.
