President Aliyev, COP28 President and Masdar break ground on three 1GW solar and wind projects in Azerbaijan with SOCAR, accelerating the country's renewable energy transition.
President of Azerbaijan and COP28 President, Ilham Aliyev, and Masdar, a UAE clean energy company, have broken ground on three major solar and wind projects in Azerbaijan with a combined capacity of 1GW. The projects, developed in partnership with Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR, will accelerate Azerbaijan's energy transition and support its ambition to generate 30% of its energy capacity from renewable power by 2030. The projects are part of Masdar's 10GW renewable energy pipeline in Azerbaijan.
