Ohio prosecutors request dismissal of one murder charge against ex-deputy Jason Meade in retrial for 2020 killing of Casey Goodson Jr.

Prosecutors in Ohio have requested a judge to dismiss one of the two murder charges against former sheriff's deputy Jason Meade, who is set to face a retrial for the killing of 23-year-old Black man Casey Goodson Jr. in 2020. Meade faces one murder count for intentionally causing Goodson's death and another for causing it during a felonious assault. The reason for the dismissal request remains undisclosed. Meade's retrial is scheduled to begin on October 31.
