Nova Scotia's QEII Health Sciences Centre installs Canada's first StarGuide SPECT/CT scanner by GE HealthCare, a $6M investment, for improved disease diagnosis and treatment.

Nova Scotia's QEII Health Sciences Centre becomes Canada's first to use a StarGuide SPECT/CT nuclear medicine scanner by GE HealthCare, a $6M investment equally funded by QEII Foundation donors and Nova Scotia Health. The 3-D imaging technology improves diagnosis and treatment of diseases like cancer and heart disease, reduces wait times, and increases efficiency with more scans yearly. The first scanner arrived at Halifax Infirmary, with a second scheduled for 2025 at Victoria General site.
