Service dogs significantly reduce PTSD symptoms, anxiety, and depression in military members and veterans, according to a large, nationwide study. This research, funded by the National Institutes of Health, involved 156 participants with PTSD who were provided a service dog, compared to usual care alone. Results showed that those with service dogs experienced less social isolation and improved quality of life.
