A near-shore landslide or landslip occurred at Inskip Point, Queensland on 3 June 2024, creating a large, deep hole at the western end of the barge landing. Near-shore landslips, also known as sinkholes, are natural coastal events caused by a large body of sand moving quickly underwater. The area is constantly replenished with sand, and a buffer zone has been established where camping and vehicles are prohibited.
