Irish Ministers announce commencement of construction on Narrow Water Bridge linking NI and Republic. The €102m+ VAT project will create a direct link between Co Louth's Omeath and Co Down's Warrenpoint, providing a 195m cable-stayed bridge accommodating motor vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles. The bridge will also open to allow the passage of ships through and on to the Newry Canal.
