IEA reports nations falling short of UN climate talks goal to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) reports that nations are falling short of the goal agreed at UN climate talks to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030 as part of efforts to curb global warming. An analysis by the IEA found that countries could reach 8,000 GW of renewable power capacity in six years, which is well below the 11,000 GW target set at COP28 in Dubai. The IEA urges governments to step up their efforts through their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and align their ambitions with the tripling goal.
